Wet conditions + no ABS + no stability control + really short wheelbase
I always wanted a Wrangler but would never buy one as a daily driver until there was an electronic nanny or two to ward off the accident fairy just in case.

Not trying to be PC principal, but I believe it’s in the offensive category. Why risk it on OPPO?

Way more than 90%. If Wranglers were only bought by people who offroaded, Jeep would have gone the way of Hummer a long time ago.

Larger contact patch for same GVW = less traction. Something told to my when i was but a wee lad lusting for the lifted pick ups and jeeps of the 70's. This was obviously just your run of the mill stupid person. Stupid- danger to themselves and others around them. “Buying a Wrangler as a fashion accessory is STUPID”.

I’m guessing you’ve never actually been to a place where people offroad. Yes, a lot of people buy Jeeps and never take them offroad. However, go anywhere where off-roading is popular, and 90% of the rigs are Jeeps.

My nonna was born in the ‘30s and she taught me not to use terms that degrade people. She grew up with people calling her a guinea and a WOP. She probably shouldn’t have been offended since “Italian” isn’t a race, and a lot of Italians were illegals anyways. She also taught my dad, uncles and aunts not to call African Americans the n word because it was meant to make them feel less than human. Guess she must be a millennial...

It’s impossible to offend me. I feed off hate. I burn up other’s ignorance like a gas stove. Trust me, you’re ignorance will never offend me. I’ve seen far too many offensive things in my life.
When someone calls you ignorant, it’s not because they’re offended, it’s because they think you’re ignorant.

I don’t want to live in a world where adults don’t talk about (real) old trucks and Jeeps. Classic pickups must be a millennial thing too. I didn’t realize so many millennials had gone gray already. Bunch of hipsters purposefully wrinkling their skin.
Also,

“I’m guessing you’ve never actually been to a place where people offroad.”
I have a picture somewhere around here of me in my Tahoe in MOAB, so I’ve been to a few places where people offroad.
Just because most offroaders are Jeeps does not mean most Jeeps go offroad.

Correct, but having been to Moab, you can see for yourself that Jeep isn’t going out of business just because Claire doesn’t get one for her 16th birthday. It’s still the most popular road legal off road toy in the US.

Wow, I see there are a few trigger words. It’s funny, some adults have vintage models worth enough to buy real Jeeps and old trucks.
Nice dirt trail, looks rough and adventurous. Is that a Whole Foods off in the background? No snorkel? No stickers?

The (actual) offroading Jeeps are still a niche, and without that niche Jeep would still continue as a brand. Without buyers like Claire, then Jeep would go the same way as Hummer (which, despite dominating Baja at the hands of Robby Gordon, fell out of public popularity).

I see way more Jeeps (like 10:1 ratio at least) than I do Hummers when I’m out four wheeling. I just don’t see the comparison between Jeep and Hummer. Way more people take Jeeps offroad than Hummers. Hummers were way too expensive for most offroad enthusiasts. Even used ones (outside of gov auctions) are too expensive.

And yet Land Rover, which was more expensive than Hummer, persists. Why is that?
It is just about image. As soon as your brand image dies, your brand dies. If Jeep became as socially/politically unsavory as Hummer then they would suffer the same fate, regardless of their offroad prowess.

And yet Land Rover, which was more expensive than Hummer, persists. Why is that?
Because Ford was able to sell off Land Rover when the economy went to shit whereas GM waited too long and their Chinese buyer backed out. Had nothing to do with the politics or society. It had to do with the economy collapsing and GM mismanagement. I’m not saying one is better than the other (I’m sure I could go a lot more places in a Hummer or a Defender), but as far as popularity offroad, there are way more Jeeps out on the trails than anything else (except dirt bikes and 2x2s). Doesn’t mean they’re better, it just means there are more of them. That’s all I’m saying.
